Project Overview
MG Construction Services Ltd has been appointed as the main contractor for the delivery of the Arthur Street PBSA (Purpose-Built Student Accommodation) development in Edinburgh, with an estimated contract value of £4.5 million.
The project begins with the complete demolition and clearance of an existing warehouse before progressing into the site’s preparation for the new development. Delivered under a carefully managed programme, the works require close coordination, robust health and safety management, and efficient waste handling to ensure the site is prepared for the next stage of construction.

Project scope
Demolition and Site Clearance
- Complete demolition of the existing warehouse structure
- Internal strip-out of building elements prior to demolition
- Removal of structural steelwork and demolition debris
- Safe operation of specialist demolition plant, including 32-tonne excavators, hydraulic shears, grabs and dedicated attachments
Waste Recycling Coordination
- Segregation and management of demolition materials
- Transportation of waste to licensed recycling facilities
- Responsible disposal of non-recyclable materials in accordance with environmental regulations
Groundworks and Foundations
- Site preparation following demolition
- Groundworks required to facilitate the new development
- Foundation works in accordance with the construction programme
Project Results
The Arthur Street PBSA development is currently progressing through its planned delivery programme.
Upon completion, the project will provide:

- A fully cleared and prepared development site
- Responsible management and recycling of demolition waste
